Gender – Based Violence: IGP Gets Decorated as Orange Ambassador, Hosts Honourable Minister of Women Affairs

As part of the events commemorating the 16 days of activism against gender – based violence and violence against children that started on November 26, 2022, and would last until December 10, 2022, the Inspector-General of Police, IGP Usman Alkali Baba, hosted the Honorable Minister of Women Affairs and Social Development, Dame Pauline Kedem Tallen, OFR, KSG, at the Force Headquarters in Abuja on Thursday, December 8th.

CSP Oumuyiwa Adejobi, the Force Public Relations Officer at Force Headquarters Abuja, stated that the IGP stressed the need for all institutions of the nation’s criminal justice system to work together to squelch all forms of violence against all genders, especially against women and children, who are frequently the victims of violent acts committed as a result of other people’s criminal activity.

The Minister praised the IGP for his love and support of women and children, which have been demonstrated in important policies and measures taken by the Nigeria Police Force under his direction. The Honourable Minister’s Color Orange team joined her in announcing the IGP as an Orange Ambassador for the fight against gender – based violence.

On his part, the Inspector-General of Police assured the Honorable Minister and her team of his commitment to continuing the fight against gender – based violence perpetrators. Assuring that incidences of gender-based violence would not be treated lightly while he was IGP, he also reiterated the importance of setting up gender desks around the nation.
