Major-General Hassan Taiwo Dada has assumed command as the 38th General Officer Commanding (GOC) 82 Division Nigerian Army (NA) from Maj Gen AS Chinade, on Wednesday 12 July 2023. The new GOC charged Commanders to re double their efforts in order to restore permanent peace in the South Eastern part of the country.
In his maiden speech, General Dada appreciated the Chief of Army Staff (COAS) Maj Gen TA Lagbaja for finding him worthy to serve as GOC 82 Division NA. He implored his Commanders to work together with other sister security and paramilitary agencies to achieve the mandate.
In his farewell remarks, the outgoing General Officer Commanding 82 Division NA Maj Gen AS Chinade thanked the former COAS Lieutenant General F Yahaya (rtd) for giving him the opportunity to serve as GOC 82 Division and thank the COAS Major General TA Lagbaja for giving him the opportunity contribute is quota to the development of the NA by appointing him as the Dean Faculty of Operational Research at the Nigerian Army Heritage and Future Center .
General Chinade noted that during his tour of duty, he ensured and worked tirelessly to improve the general security situation in the South East. He pointed out that the 2023 general elections were conducted successfully.
He also use the medium to congratulate officers and men of the division for the roles they played achieving the successes recorded during his time as GOC. He therefore urged and charged troops to give same energy and level of support to the new GOC.
High point of the ceremony was the signing of Handing and Taking Over notes, Handing Over of the command flag to the incoming GOC, address to troops and lowering and hoisting of the command flag at Quarter Guard to signify the end and a beginning of an era. The event was hitch free.
