Abuja, Nigeria – Major General Koko Isoni has officially assumed command of the Army Headquarters Garrison (AHQ Gar) following recent appointments and redeployments of senior officers within the Nigerian Army. The Handing and Taking Over ceremony took place on Friday, July 14, 2023, at the AHQ Gar Conference room in Mogadishu Cantonment, Asokoro, Abuja.
During the event, Major General Kabiru Garba, the immediate past Commander of AHQ Gar, expressed his appreciation to the officers and soldiers for their unwavering support, loyalty, and commitment throughout his tenure. He encouraged them to continue working as a cohesive team to make the incoming Commander’s tenure successful.
In his maiden speech, Major General Koko Isoni commended his predecessor for a job well done during his time in command. He acknowledged the achievements and contributions made by Major General Garba and called on the officers and men under his command to extend the same level of support and cooperation to him.
Prior to his appointment as Commander AHQ Gar, Major General Isoni served as the Deputy Theater Commander of the Joint Task Force Northeast, Operation HADIN KAI.
The ceremony featured significant moments such as the signing of handing and taking over notes, the decoration of Major General Koko Isoni with the AHQ Gar Insignia, the hoisting of the new command flag at the quarter guard, and a group photograph to commemorate the beginning of a new era.
With Major General Isoni assuming command, the Army Headquarters Garrison can expect a continuation of the important tasks and responsibilities carried out under the leadership of his predecessor. The officers and soldiers under his command can look forward to his guidance and direction as they work together to fulfill their mandate efficiently and effectively.
