Major-General Taoreed Lagbaja, the General Officer Commanding (GOC) of 1 Division of the Nigerian Army, has graduated officers and troops from Basic Battle Course 4/22 at 1 Division Training School Dalet Barracks in Kaduna.

The GOC, who was represented by Brigadier General MK Gara, Chief of Staff of the Division, praised the participants for their self-discipline, fortitude, and persistence throughout the training. He praised the instructors from the Nigerian Army School of Infantry Jaji for having a significant impact on the graduates’ high level of military training and skill.

General Lagbaja expressed his extreme optimism that the main goal of the Basic Battle Course has been accomplished. He urged the graduates to keep using their new knowledge and abilities in practice to improve their competency. He continued by congratulating the graduates on their spirit of cooperation, which he said would help them cope with stressful situations, shock on the battlefield, loneliness, and dread. He continued by saying that during all missions, soldiers have to scrupulously abide by the code of conduct and rules of engagement.

Finally, General Lagbaja urged the graduating students to be physically and psychologically attentive and prepared to be called upon to serve in whatever capacity while carrying out their duties in the next 2023 general election.

The Division Training Officer Brigadier General BO Amakor mentioned earlier in his welcome address that the Basic Battle Course aims to grow the students into physically strong and psychologically alert individuals in order to strengthen the battle abilities and knowledge needed of competent warriors.

He complimented the General for providing all of the materials required for the course’s successful completion. He commended the GOC’s dedication to training in achieving the Chief of Army Staff’s objective of having “A Professional Nigerian Army Ready to Accomplish Assigned Missions within a Joint Environment in Defense of Nigeria.” Additionally, General Amakor praised the participants for their perseverance throughout the course.

The event’s highlights included the disassembling and reassembling of AK-47s and FN rifles, mounting and dismounting drills, demonstrations of attacking the enemy’s camp, the presentation of certificates and mementos, a vote of appreciation from one of the graduates, and a group portrait.
