On May 19, 2023, EX Shining Star 3/23 graduates were recognized at the Division’s Training School in Kaduna by Major General OT Akinjobi, General Officer Commanding (GOC) 1 Division and Force Commander Operation WHIRL PUNCH.

In his remarks to the students, the Special Guest of Honor, Maj Gen OT Akinjobi, commended them on finishing their eight weeks of rigorous training. He also mentioned that the training’s goal was to get the participants ready for the work that lay ahead. Providing the required training for troops, he continued, was the responsibility of the leaders. General Akinjobi exhorted the participants to enhance their personal skills as they advance in their careers and to forge bonds of friendship and trust with their coworkers.

General Akinjobi underlined that the participants must consider how to accomplish their aims in society. The risks of drug addiction and the proper usage of social media were also discussed with the students.

The Division Training Officer Brigadier General Anthony Wende mentioned the goal of the training earlier in his welcome speech, noting that it aimed to give a unified post-basic training. The 8-week training focused heavily on tactical drills, weapon handling, and live fire both during the day and at night, the speaker continued. Gen Wende also thanked the GOC for all of his help in making sure that sufficient training materials were supplied.

Exercise Shining Star gave participants the chance to hone their abilities, share knowledge, and improve communication amongst the division’s many units. It gave soldiers the chance to hone their combat skills, develop their decision-making processes, and fortify their overall capabilities.

The professionalism, commitment, and leadership of the soldiers in Nigeria’s 1 Division are demonstrated by the Exercise’s successful conclusion. To secure the nation’s defense and security, the division keeps preparedness and training as top priorities.

The counter-ambush drills, the rescue mission, the campaign to plant trees, the demonstration of stripping and assembling an AK-47, the presentation of mementos, and the group photos were the highlights of the event.
