At the 71 Supply and Transport Brigade in Kaduna State, General Officer Commanding (GOC) 1 Division Nigerian Army and Force Commander Operation Whirl Punch Major General OT Akinjobi inaugurated 133 students for the Basic Second Quarter Courses 2023.

The GOC, who was represented by Brigadier General Anthony Wende, Division Training Officer, welcomed 85 soldiers for the driving course and 48 soldiers for the basic catering course all for Basic Second Quarter Courses 2023.

In his remarks, the GOC representative urged all students to make the most of their nominations and see to it that they advance in their chosen fields of study because this is a chance for nominated personnel to receive the training they need to fulfill their duties as professional drivers and caterers in the Nigerian Army.

He added that because the country’s problems will necessitate the movement of vehicles and supplies for personnel, it is preferable to sweat more in peacetime and bleed less in war. In order to make the most of their time, he advised the pupils to be very determined.

The Brigade Commander 71 Supply and Transport , Colonel WA Bakare, stated earlier in his welcome address that the Basic Second Quarter courses are intended to make participants proficient and current in modern driving and catering services because the Brigade has qualified instructors, resource people, and platforms that are prepared to provide the necessary training to the participants. Additionally, he urged the students to uphold a high standard of conduct, highlighting the Brigade’s supportive learning environment.

He thanked the GOC for authorizing and giving all the logistical support needed to run the courses despite the restricted funding and pleaded for more funding to make the Brigade more welcoming to the students.

The Nigerian Army has long encouraged its personnel’ ongoing professional growth. To improve troops’ knowledge in subjects including military law, ethics, human rights, and international humanitarian law, a variety of courses, workshops, and seminars are held. It’s vital to remember that the Nigerian Army’s specific course offerings may change depending on the needs of the military and the country’s changing security scenario.
