The General Officer Commanding (GOC) 1 Division Nigerian Army, Major General ASM Wase, has paid a familiarization visit to the Commander, Command Engineering Depot (CED), Major General OO Arogundade, at the Depot Headquarters in Rigachikun, Kaduna State. The visit, which took place on 7 October 2025, was part of the GOC’s ongoing tour of formations and units under his command to strengthen synergy, assess operational readiness, and enhance administrative efficiency.
During the visit, Major General Wase was warmly received by the Commander, Command Engineering Depot, along with senior officers and members of staff. He was briefed on the Depot’s mandate, ongoing engineering projects, and contributions to the Nigerian Army’s operational effectiveness through maintenance, fabrication, and innovation of key military assets.
In his remarks, the GOC commended the leadership and personnel of the Depot for their ingenuity, professionalism, and commitment to excellence. He emphasized the critical role of engineering support in sustaining combat operations and ensuring the functionality of military platforms.
Major General Wase urged officers and men of the Engineering Depot to continue upholding the highest standards of discipline and technical proficiency, aligning their efforts with the Chief of Army Staff’s Command Philosophy, which is “To Consolidate the Transformation of the Nigerian Army Towards Bequeathing a Well-Motivated and Combat-Ready Force that can Effectively Discharge its Constitutional Responsibilities within a Joint and Multi-Agency Environment.”
The GOC also toured key facilities within the Command Engineering Depot, including workshops and project sites, where he inspected ongoing works and interacted with technical personnel. He expressed satisfaction with the level of innovation displayed and assured the Depot of continued support from the Division Headquarters.
The visit further strengthened collaboration between 1 Division and the Command Engineering Depot, reaffirming the Nigerian Army’s commitment to operational readiness through sustained maintenance culture, innovation, and local content development in military engineering.
