The General Officer Commanding (GOC), 2 Division Nigerian Army Major General Aminu Chinade has today 9 January 2023 extolled the National Youth Service Corps (NYSC) as one of the critical and strategic institutions that has contributed greatly to national development and stability through her roles and schemes. Major General Chinade stated this when the State Coordinator, NYSC Oyo State, Mr Odoba Abel Oche and his management team paid him a courtesy visit. The GOC who expressed satisfaction on the scheme’s activities also noted that the NYSC as an institution has helped in modelling and preparing so many youths for greater responsibilities. He assured the State Coordinator of the Division’s continued collaboration and synergy for the smooth running of its schemes in the state.
The GOC applauded the NYSC management for holding on to the tenets of its establishment years ago, noting that the Nigerian Army and indeed 2 Division holds the scheme to heart and would continue to work for the growth, development and sustainability of the institution.
Earlier, the State Coordinator NYSC Oyo State, Mr Abel Oche described the scheme as the brainchild of the military, therefore the need to continuously strengthen the existing relationship between the institution, 2 Division and the Nigerian Army at large should not be overemphasized. Mr Oche who was full of praises on the gains the scheme has recorded from the military since its establishment further seeks more synergy, cooperation and collaboration between the institution and 2 Division, especially in the areas of security and training.
The visit’s highlights include exchanging souvenirs by the GOC, signing of visitor’s register and group photographs.
