Headquarters 16 Brigade Nigerian Army has a new look as the General Officer Commanding GOC 6 Division Nigerian Army ( NA) Maj Gen OO Oluyede commissioned multiple projects at the Brigade Headquarters in Yenagoa and the host community – Elebele in Ogbia Local Government Area of Bayelsa State on Monday 17 April 2023.
The projects commissioned were the remodelled Brigade Headquarters Complex Main Entrance, new Guard House/ Reception Room, redesigning and landscaping of the Brigade Headquarters frontage and renovation of Quarter Guard. Other projects included remodelling and reconstruction of 16 Bde Phyton Officers’ Mess that comprised the Mess Hall, Cool Room, Duty Officer’s Room, Mess Sergeant Room, Restaurant and a Courtyard and construction of an industrial water project for Elebele Community that hosted the Brigade.
Speaking during the commissioning of the projects, Maj Gen Oluyede commended Commander 16 Brigade Nigerian Army/ Sector 2 Joint Task Force South South Operation Delta Safe (16 Bde NA/ Sect 2 JTF SS OPDS) Brig Gen SY Yakasai for his sterling leadership ability in steering the affairs of the Brigade.
The GOC acknowledged the giant strides made by the Commander in the infrastructural development of the Brigade. He further expressed his delight at the value added to the Brigade through the commissioned projects which he noted are worthy of emulation by all officers.
Maj Gen Oluyede therefore urged all officers to remain committed, dedicated to duty, professional and not to rest on their oars.
Speaking earlier, Commander 16 Bde NA/ Sect 2 JTF SS OPDS, Brig Gen SY Yakasai said projects inaugurated would enhance the welfare and operational capabilities of troops.
He commended the host community and people of Bayelsa State for their hospitality and cordial relationship with the Brigade.
Also speaking at the event, the Paramount Ruler of Elebele Community, King Osene Osene thanked the Brigade for providing the water project to enhance access to potable water in the community.
He added that his people were excited with the project which has brought relief to the people of Elebele Community.
