The Acting General Officer Commanding (GOC) 7 Division, Nigerian Army/Commander Sector 1 Joint Task Force North East Operation HADIN KAI, Brigadier General Ugochukwu Unachukwu, on Thursday, 21 August 2025, paid an operational visit to troops of 3 Battalion at Gamboru Ngala Local Government Area of Borno State.
In a statement by Lieutenant Colonel Haruna Sani, Acting Deputy Director Army Public Relations, 7 Division, the visit was aimed at boosting morale and strengthening the fighting spirit of the troops in the ongoing counter-insurgency operations against Boko Haram (BHT) and Islamic State of West Africa Province (ISWAP) terrorists.
Addressing the soldiers, Brig Gen Unachukwu charged them to sustain the tempo in the ongoing strangulation operations designed to deny terrorists the logistics required to launch hostilities against Nigerian Army troops. He praised their doggedness, resilience, and tactical discipline, urging them to remain committed to the constitutional mandate of restoring peace in Borno State and the entire North East region.
The Acting GOC further encouraged the troops to embrace esprit de corps, describing it as a vital ingredient for successful military operations. He also reaffirmed the Nigerian Army’s resolve to restore normalcy in the region to encourage massive participation in agriculture and other economic activities, in line with the Federal Government’s drive to tackle food security.
Brig Gen Unachukwu equally tasked unit commanders to prioritize soldiers’ welfare, noting that it remains one of the cardinal pillars of the Chief of Army Staff’s Command Philosophy.
Highlights of the visit included a briefing from the Commanding Officer, 3 Battalion, and a tour of Wulgo, a suburb of Gamboru Ngala, where the Acting GOC provided tactical guidance to strengthen force projection against insurgents.
