The General Officer Commanding (GOC) 7 Division and Commander Sector 1 Operation HADIN KAI (OPHK), Major General Abdulsalam Abubakar has lauded the selfless service and concerted efforts of the National Park Services (NPS), Chad Basin in safeguarding human and wildlife within the North East region.

The GOC gave the commendation when the Conservator of Park (CP) for NPS Chad Basin and his entourage paid him a courtesy visit in his office at Headquarters 7 Division Maimalari Military Cantonment, Maiduguri on Thursday 11 May, 2023.

While stating the purpose of their visit, the CP, Mr JB Oladosu enthused that the visit was necessary in order to familiarize with the leadership of the Division as well as to seek further collaboration and synergy which he said will further cement the already existing relationship between the Nigerian Army (NA) and the NPS in the State.

The visit by the NPS officials is part of ongoing efforts to foster greater cooperation and collaboration between the military and civilian agencies in addressing the challenges posed by the insurgency in the northeast. The Nigerian military has been working closely with a range of government agencies and non-governmental organizations to provide humanitarian assistance, promote development, and enhance security in the region.

In his response, Major General Abdulsalam Abubakar reiterated the military’s commitment to working with the National Park Service and other partners to achieve these goals, saying: “The Nigerian military is committed to promoting peace, security, and development in the northeast region. We recognize the importance of working with our civilian partners to achieve these objectives, and we will continue to do so in the years ahead.”

General Abubakar also highlighted the importance of preserving the environment and protecting wildlife in the areas affected by the insurgency. He emphasized that the Nigerian military is committed to working with the NPS and other relevant agencies to ensure that its operations are conducted in a manner that is both effective and environmentally sustainable.
