Junior level Commanders have been tasked with putting their training to use in the field by Major-General Godwin Mutkut, the General Officer Commanding the 8 Division of the Nigerian Army and Commander of Joint Taskforce North West Operation HADARIN-DAJI.

During the Cadre’s inaugural ceremony, which was intended for junior-level leaders of the Armed Forces and other paramilitary organizations, the GOC addressed the audience. The five-day training course was inaugurated by General Muktuk under the heading “Improving Skills and Techniques of Middle-Level Cadre Officers in Joint Operations Planning Process,” noting that the training was necessary given the nature of the region’s ongoing operations, which necessitated coordinated planning and action among the security agencies. In order to address existing security concerns in the Northwest zone, he said that the cadre will improve participants’ knowledge, abilities, and skills as well as the coordination of the security agencies.

The GOC urged the audience to focus on the details throughout the lectures and use what they learned to current activities to advance the cadre’s stated goals. The Theater Commander further suggested that the cadre be in line with Lieutenant-General Faruk Yahaya’s vision for the Army, which is to have “A professional Nigerian Army Ready to Accomplish Assigned Mission within a Joint Environment in the Defence of Nigeria.”

Training is highly valued by the Nigerian Army since it increases the organization’s effectiveness, professionalism, and efficiency. The Army requires training for a variety of reasons, chief among them being an increase in combat readiness: It is certain that soldiers are prepared to confront the challenges of battle if they have the right training. The Nigerian Army must be combat ready in order to defend the country against any outside attack.

In the 8 Division Areas of Responsibility, participants for the Cadre were selected from a range of military formations and organisations, including paramilitary organizations.
