The General Officer Commanding (GOC) 82 Division/Comd JTF SE Operation UDO KA (OPUK), Nigerian Army, Major General OA Fadairo, has concluded a two-day maiden operational visit to the 34 Artillery Brigade, Obinze, in Owerri, Imo State. The working visit, which held from 19 to 20 November 2025, marked his first familiarization tour to formations under the Division since assuming command.
In a statement by the Assistant Director Army Public Relations 34 Brigade Artillery said, Major General Fadairo was warmly welcomed on arrival by the Commander 34 Artillery Brigade/LCC OPUK General IM Abbas, who formally received the GOC and highlighted key operational strides and challenges within the Brigade’s area of responsibility.
Addressing officers and soldiers during the visit, the GOC commended the troops for their resilience and conveyed the goodwill message of the Chief of Army Staff (COAS), Lieutenant General Waidi Shaibu NAM, urging troops to remain steadfast in professionalism and dedication. He emphasized the importance of discipline, alertness, perseverance, and endurance as the Nigerian Army intensifies efforts to end insecurity in the South-East. He also visited troops currently engaged in offensive operations in Mbaitoli, Njaba, Oru East and Okigwe Local Government Areas of Imo State, where he encouraged them to sustain the momentum in ongoing operations.
Major General Fadairo further charged the troops to double their commitment to ongoing operations, maintain high morale, and ensure the proper care and serviceability of their equipment. He reminded them that success in the theatre requires collective effort, resilience, and absolute compliance with the COAS’ command philosophy.
As part of his itinerary, the GOC paid courtesy visits to the Eze Imo, Chairman of the Imo State Council of Traditional Rulers, Eze Dr. EC Okeke CFR, where he reaffirmed the Army’s commitment to supporting civil authorities and strengthening civil–military cooperation. He also visited the Headquarters Maritime Component at the Nigerian Navy Base, Headquarters Air Component OPUK, among other key locations.
The GOC’s maiden visit underscored his resolve to enhance troop welfare, reinforce operational readiness, and consolidate ongoing efforts aimed at restoring peace and stability in the South-East.
