The General Officer Commanding (GOC) and Commander Sector 1 Operation HADIN KAI (OPHK) Major General Abdulsalam Abubakar has paid glowing tributes and as well sought the royal blessings and prayers from the Paramount Traditional Ruler of Borno State, the Shehu of Borno.

General Abubakar made the request on Thursday, 25 May, 2023 while on his maiden courtesy visit to the Shehu of Borno, His Royal Highness (HRH), Alhaji (Dr) Abubakar Ibn Umar Garbai Al-Amin El-Kanemi CFR in his palace in Maiduguri, Borno State.

The GOC remarked that he was at the palace to officially introduce himself as well as inform HRH of his assumption of duty as the substantive GOC 7 Division and Commander Sector 1 North East Operation HADIN KAI. He also used the occasion and sought for royal blessings, prayers and guidance from HRH in discharging his constitutional duties and mandate in the state as a whole. He lauded the Shehu, enthusing, “When I listened to the speech of our father, I saw the passion and love for his people, especially His Royal Highness postulations on education, security, infrastructure and standard of living of his dear subjects”.

In his remarks, HRH Alhaji (Dr) Abubakar Ibn Umar Garbai Al- Amin El-Kanemi the Shehu of Borno extolled the resilience, commitment, doggedness and courage of the Nigerian Army in handling the menace of insurgency, which has consequently brought tremendous infrastructural development within the state, and other positive benefits.

He therefore used the medium to express his assurances to the troops of the Nigerian Army for their gallantry, urging them to remain focused, steadfast and not relent toward achieving the desired end state. He thereafter reaffirmed that the good and peace-loving people of Borno State were solely behind the military.

The visit serves as a testament to the strong partnership between the military and traditional leadership, acknowledging their shared responsibility in maintaining peace and security. It underscores the significance of the Shehu of Borno’s role in guiding the community and fostering collaboration for the betterment of society.
