The Armed Forces Remembrance Day Celebration (AFRDC) ended with a Regimental Parade on Sunday 15 January 2023 at Millennium Park 11/11 Cenotaph Calabar Cross Rivers State in honor of the fallen heroes and Veteran who rendered great services to Nigeria.
The Special Guest of Honor and Reviewing Officer of the Parade, the Executive Governor of Cross River State Senator Professor Ben Ayade in his remark said today’s Armed Forces Remembrance Day celebration is focused on both the dead and living who has fought for the peace of the nation. He further call Commanders at various level to take care of those placed under their care. His Excellency assures retirees of the state to look into their pension and welfare.
The Armed Forces Remembrance Day witnessed Static Parade display, Inspection of Parade by the Special Guest of Honor, laying of wreaths by the Special Guest of Honour and other Dignities, Signing of Remembrance Register and the Release of Pigeons which signify peace, unity, hope and prosperity for our nation Nigeria and Cross River State.
Present at the occasion include the Governor of Cross River State, His Excellency Sen. Prof. Sir Ben Ayade (KSJI) CON, Deputy Governor, his Excellency Prof. Ivara Esu OFR, Representative of the state Chief Judge Commander 13 Brigade Nigerian Army Brigadier General EI Okoro, Commander Nigerian Navy Ship Victory Commodore I C Okpala, Commander 305 Special Mobility Group Air Commodore OA Okpara, Commissioner of Police Cross River State CP Sule Balarabe. Officers, personnel of Nigerian Armed Forces, Nigeria Army Officers’ Wives Association (NAOWA), Nigeria Army Soldiers’ Wives Association (NASWA), Members of the Nigerian Legion and the representative of Diplomatic Corps. the Armed Forces Remembrance Day witnessed a hitch-free celebration.
Others dignitaries who also attended the occasion was the State Director Department of State Services, Sector Command Federal Road Safety, Commandant Civil Defence Corps Cross River State, representative of Obong of Calabar and representative of widows from the Armed Forces of Nigeria amongst others.
