Ground troops in the Northwestern states of Sokoto and Zamfara have intensified their efforts to eliminate bandits in the region. Coordinated clearance operations conducted by the troops of Operation Hadarin Daji have led to the destruction of bandits’ camps in several villages, including Mutuwa, Guda tudu, Kawar, Dantayawa, Gidan Kare, Mahuta, and Gyado.
In a separate operation, troops from the Forward Operating Base (FOB) Faru in Maradun LGA of Zamfara state acted on credible intelligence and stormed a bandits’ location at Bagabuzu village. During the encounter, four bandits were killed, and others managed to escape with gunshot wounds. The operation resulted in the recovery of weapons and ammunition, including a General Purpose Machine Gun (GPMG), an FN Rifle, motorcycles, and rounds of special ammunition.
Major General Godwin Mutkut, the General Officer Commanding 8 Division Sokoto and Commander of Joint Task Force Northwest Operation HADARIN DAJI, commended the troops for their resilience, gallantry, and dedication to the military operations against the bandits. He also called on the general public to provide credible information about bandits’ activities to support the military’s timely response.
The intensified efforts of ground troops in the region are part of ongoing measures to combat the menace of banditry and restore peace and security to affected communities. The success of these operations relies on the cooperation of the public in providing vital information to aid in the military’s efforts to tackle banditry and other criminal activities in the region.
