Major General Ishaya Maina, the Commandant of the Army War College Nigeria (AWCN), has urged recently promoted personnel to stay firm in their journey, stressing the value of discipline and resilience in professional development. During the College’s decoration ceremony on Tuesday, November 26, 2024, he said, “Growth is a lengthy process, but perseverance yields bigger rewards.”

The occasion honored the promotion of 16 soldiers and one officer, showcasing their commitment, diligence, and self-control. Among those honored were Lt. DC Lumanze, who was promoted to Captain; three troops who were promoted from Staff Sergeant to Warrant Officer; five who were promoted from Sergeant to Staff Sergeant; five who were promoted from Corporal to Sergeant; and three who were promoted from Lance Corporal to Corporal.

During his speech, Major General Maina congratulated the staff and reminded them of the growing responsibility that comes with their new positions. He exhorted them to carry out their responsibilities with professionalism, humility, and a genuine dedication to helping others. He said, “You will undoubtedly achieve your goals if you maintain discipline.”

The Commandant also thanked the Nigerian Army for helping these worthy people improve their careers and obtain their well-deserved promotions by providing them with plenty of possibilities within the College.

Deputy Commandant and Director of Studies Brigadier General AM Umar, together with directors, faculty, friends, and family, attended the ceremony. Following a vote of gratitude by the officer and the SNCO, senior officers gave some final words of wisdom, and a collective photo session was held to honor the accomplishments.
