The Multinational Joint Task Force (MNJTF) enjoys the unwavering backing of Ambassador Mamman Nuhu, Executive Secretary of the Lake Chad Basin Commission and Head of Mission. When the newly appointed Force Commander MNJTF Maj-Gen GU Chibuisi led other senior officers of HQ MNJTF on a courtesy visit on Tuesday, May 2, 2023, he made the commitment.
According to the HoM, the MNJTF is a strategic force that has made a significant contribution to establishing peace and security in the Lake Chad Basin region. The force was cited as a catalyst in reducing the excesses of BH/ISWAP terrorist activity in the area. Speaking further, he praised the MNJTF for its victories over terrorists, which he cited as evidence from the heads of the countries that provide troops and other critical allies. Additionally, Ambassador Nuhu pledged to cooperate amicably with the MNJTF’s new leadership.
This was said in a statement made to the media by Lieutenant Colonel Kamarudeen Adegboke, the Multi-National Joint Taskforce’s chief military public information officer.
The FC MNJTF Maj Gen GU Chibuisi earlier expressed his gratitude for the cordial welcome given to him and his party. He reaffirmed his intention to see that the MNJTF makes all effort to put an end to the threat posed by BH/ISWAP terrorists in the Lake Chad Basin area. The MNJTF will continue to battle the remaining terrorists with the utmost feeling of duty, he said, commending the HoM for his efforts in the war against terrorist activities.
General Chibuisi declared that he had completely seized command of the MNJTF and was in the LCBC to publicly identify himself to the HoM. He emphasized that he is dedicated to upholding the MNJTF and LCBC’s current friendly relationship. He expressed gratitude to the HoM for the constant strategic direction he provided to the Force, which helped lead to the many victories recorded in the conflict with BH/ISWAP terrorists in the Lake Chad Basin region. He stated, “We will continue to engage with the LCBC in order to profit from the necessary experience needed in the on-going conflict with the Insurgents.
