In support of the efforts of the state’s police commissioner, CP Aminu Alhassan, to put an end to abduction, banditry, and other horrific crimes, the command has had exceptional success with its many daring operations across the state that aim to dislodge remaining kidnapper/bandit enclaves.
The effective operations that resulted in the capture of notorious criminals harassing Alkaleri L.G.A. Bauchi State are noteworthy.
Police Public Relations Officer for Bauchi State, SP Ahmed Mohammed Wakil, claims that throughout the reviewed period, the command accomplished the following things:
The activities that were carried out in response to those on January 9th, 2023, were based on accurate information that, at around 2300 hours, a group of armed individuals invaded Dan Village via the Duguri District of the Alkaleri LGA. The gunmen killed Saleh Umar (also known as Saleh Burga), a 70-year-old resident of the same village, during the siege after breaking into his home.
The armed men shot the victim many times. When police were informed of the situation, they promptly dispatched operatives to the area, but as soon as they arrived, the criminals fled.
The man was taken by ambulance to Gar Primary Health Center in Bauch, but a doctor later declared him dead.
However, efforts had increased in an effort to track down and capture the criminals so they could face the consequences of their actions. As a result, on December 10, 2023, police operations working with locals ambushed and killed two of the armed kidnappers, while the other suspects were rendered helpless by the operatives’ overwhelming firepower and forced to flee into the adjacent bushes with suspected gunshot wounds.
In addition, one (1) Ak47 rifle, three (3) magazines, and four (4) live 7.6239mm rounds were found.
Similar to this, on January 10, 2023, at around 16:30 hours, members of the command’s anti-kidnapping unit stationed in Alkaleri were conducting a routine patrol with the help of local hunters near the Dajin Madam and Yankari forest when they came across a suspicious hut (Bukka) that they believed to be a kidnapper’s hideout. The operatives quickly cordoned off the area and successfully detained three (3) suspects,
Bello Lawan m AKA Idris Hashimu m, a 26-year-old resident of Kampanin Zira Plateau State Zakiru m, 20 years old, from Mansur ward of Alkaleri LGA,
Ibrahim Wali, 20 years old, of Gobirawa ward, Alkaleri LGA’s Gwana district
The suspect huts (Bukka) were therefore searched, and twenty-two (22) rounds of 762.51mm NATO ammunition were discovered.
All three of the apprehended individuals admitted under questioning that they had participated in various kidnapping operations near the Alkaleri axis. While this is going on, all efforts are being made to apprehend their fellow conspirators.
Additionally, on July 1, 2023, at around 14:30 hours, in response to an intelligence report, a team of police agents and local hunters strike a kidnappers’ hideout close to Mansur Forest.
As a result, three functional motorcycles (Honda Bajaj) were equally retrieved during the operation, along with two of the bandits who had been neutralized.
In related news, agents from the Commands Anti-Kidnapping Unit Base 4, Alkaleri attacked alleged kidnappers at Yankari forest using Jada in collaboration with experienced hunters. Five (5) reported to have been abducted from Cheledi village in Kirfi LGA of Bauchi state were freed during the operation, unharmed, and reunited with their family. A locally made pistol and ninety thousand naira (N90,000) in cash were confiscated from the suspects, and one suspect was also apprehended during the operation.
Similar to this, on January 12, 2023, police officers assigned to the Alkaleri Divisional Police Headquarters acted on a tip that a 14-year-old girl from the Maimadi ward of the Alkaleri LGA had been abducted by an unidentified group of armed men. The Divisional Police Officer led a patrol unit that attacked the thugs at their hiding place. The victim was therefore saved unharmed and reunited with her family. In the course of the operation, one AK-47 firearm was found.
To catch the evading suspects, the patrol in the woodland has also been stepped up.
OVERALL, THE COMMAND HAD PERFORMED A FEW OPERATIONS AROUND ALKALERI AXIS DURING THE PERIOD UNDER REVIEW;
1. Four (4) alleged kidnappers were detained.
2. Recovered one fake SMG rifle and four AK47 rifles.
3. A single revolver made in the area.
4. One Beretta handgun produced locally
5. Taken out four (4) kidnappers and bandits
6. Unharmed recovery of six (6) kidnapped victims.
7. Five (5) magazine-empty boxes
8. Twenty-two (22) rounds of NATO 7-62mm ammo
9. A total of four (4) 7-62.39mm rounds
