The yearly celebrations and honour to our fallen heroes who lived and laid down their lives for the unity of the country, its people and those yet unborn is a task that needs to be accomplished by all and sundry. The General Officer Commanding (GOC) 2 Division Nigerian Army Major General Aminu Chinade made this known when the Oyo State 2023 Armed Forces Remembrance Day Celebration Committee led by its Chairman Barrister Tayo Ayoade paid him a courtesy visit.

The GOC while commending members of the committee for the progress made so far which he observed was due to the commitment and zeal attached to the celebrations, urged them not to relent until remarkable achievement is attained. He assured them that 2 Division will continue to handsomely support the committee, the veterans and their families in its Area of Responsibility.

Earlier the Chairman Oyo State 2023 Armed Forces Remembrance Day Celebration Committee Barrister Tayo Ayoade said veterans and the families of departed heroes deserve the best. He noted that the more Nigerians are willing to donate towards their welfare and the honour accorded those that have died and the more support to their families will serve as a morale booster to those that are still living. Barrister Abode urge for the support of the Division towards achieving its mandate and all the activities lined up for the celebrations.

The Armed Forces Remembrance Day is been celebrated in Nigeria on January 15 every year as a mark of honour and respect for the departed heroes, veterans and serving personnel of the Armed Forces.
