On May 31, 2024, Inspector-General of Police, IGP Kayode Adeolu Egbetokun hosted a crucial conference at the Force Headquarters in Abuja, bringing together key officers responsible for the internal control mechanisms of the Nigeria Police Force (NPF). The meeting, held in the IGP Conference Hall, assembled officers in charge of the X-Squads, the Head of the Inspector-General of Police Monitoring Unit, and the Heads of Police Complaint Response Units from across the Federation. These units are instrumental in monitoring and curbing excesses within the Force and investigating public complaints against police officers.
In a statement by ACP Olumuyiwa Adejobi, the Force Public Relations Officer, IGP Egbetokun emphasized the paramount importance of maintaining internal order, promoting discipline, and encouraging positive conduct. He underscored that discipline is the foundation of the Nigeria Police Force and stressed the necessity of striving for professionalism and adherence to the core values and dignity of the NPF.
