Lagos, Nigeria – The law enforcement community is in grief as the Inspector-General of Police, IGP Olukayode Adeolu Egbetokun, extends his heartfelt condolences to the family, friends, and loved ones of the late CP Frank Odita (Rtd.), a former Commissioner of Police and Force Public Relations Officer. CP Odita’s exceptional contributions to police-public relations and his unwavering dedication to duty have left an indelible mark on the Nigeria Police Force.

In an official statement, CSP Olumuyiwa Adejobi, the Force Public Relations Officer, highlighted CP Odita’s remarkable career and outstanding achievements. As the Force Public Relations Officer from 1990 to 1992, CP Odita revolutionized police public relations, setting a new standard that has shaped subsequent successes in enhancing the relationship between law enforcement and citizens.

Hailing from Delta State, CP Odita retired from the Nigeria Police Force in 1993 after a distinguished and commendable service to the nation. He was not only a communications expert but also a media mogul and the Principal Consultant/CEO of FrankCom Limited. His significant contributions extended beyond his role in law enforcement, as he co-founded and presented the influential program “Security Watch Africa.” Through various television and radio programs, CP Odita provided insights into the inner workings of the police, effectively improving their perception among the public.

Tragically, CP Frank Odita passed away on the evening of Friday, 23rd June 2023, at the age of 84, after a brief illness. His demise occurred at the Critical Care Unit of the Lagos State University Teaching Hospital (LASUTH), leaving a void in the hearts of all who knew him.

As the family mourns this great loss, the IGP, on behalf of the entire Nigeria Police Force, calls for strength and unity among CP Odita’s loved ones. The IGP emphasized the need to uphold the remarkable legacies left behind by their beloved husband, father, and grandfather.

“CP Frank Odita was a man of unwavering diligence, both within and outside of public service,” stated IGP Olukayode Adeolu Egbetokun. “His dedication to duty and his exceptional contributions to police-public relations will forever be remembered. May his soul rest in eternal peace.”

CP Frank Odita’s contributions to the Nigeria Police Force have left an indelible mark on its history. His vision and efforts have paved the way for stronger relationships between law enforcement and the communities they serve. As the law enforcement community mourns his passing, they stand united in their commitment to continue building upon the foundations he laid.

The legacy of CP Frank Odita will continue to inspire generations of law enforcement officers, reminding them of the importance of trust, transparency, and effective communication in creating a safer and more secure Nigeria.

May his memory forever remain a source of strength and inspiration.
