The Police Headquarters following complaints and investigations based on video evidence of assault, dishonorable behavior, and incivility toward members of the public in Emouha, Rivers State, and a subsequent orderly room trial of the involved policemen by the Force Provost Marshal, one Adejoh Siaka has had his rank reduced from Inspector to Sergeant. Similar to this, Sergeant Ndiwa Kpuebari received a harsh reprimand for being on the scene but doing nothing to stop such an improper and disgusting act.
One Inspector Friday Obaka, who was later found to have been absent from the conflict scene, was discharged unconditionally at the completion of the hearings, according to CSP Olumuyiwa Adejobi, the Force Public Relations Officer, Force Headquarters. The three police officers would all be transferred from Rivers State to other Commands and Formations to carry on with their police work.
In order to respect the fundamental rights of all citizens and to comply with the provisions of the 1999 Constitution of the Federal Republic of Nigeria (as amended), the Inspector General of Police has charged officers and men of the Force with acting diligently and upholding the high principles of professional policing in the performance of their duties.
