Indolency Not to be Tolerated by 2 Division Nigerian Army – General Officer Commanding

The General Officer Commanding (GOC) 2 Div Nigerian Army, Major General Mohammed Usman has implored students of the Division Training School to avoid all kinds of distractions and fully concentrate on their training, noting that the Division has zero tolerance for indolent students. Major General Usman stated this while inaugurating the course ‘Exercise Shinning Star 111″, a basic training cadre for young soldiers at 2 Division Training School Hall, Adekunle Fajuyi Cantonment, Ibadan. The GOC 2 Div Nigerian Army charged the students to pay adequate attention to their programme in order to meet the course objectives as well as enhance their career in the Nigerian Army.

He pointed out that any student that perform below standard at the end of the course will not be considered proficient to graduate. The GOC 2 Div Nigerian Army reiterated that the course is designed to improve their knowledge on how to confront the current security challenges facing the country and their capacity to contribute towards achieving the Chief of Army Staff vision, which is ‘ A Professional Nigerian Army Ready to Accomplish Assigned Mission Within a Joint Environment in Defence of Nigeria “.

In his welcome address, the Division Training Officer, Brigadier General Danladi Abdullahi said the course is meant to harmonize post basic training cadre for young soldiers and also designed to develop individual soldier as well as group of soldiers to be physically robust and mentally alert.

The DTO further pointed out that the course will build their endurance, ability to withstand extremes of temperature, hunger, fatigue and sleep deprivation, as well as develop their use of initiative, taking calculated risks and effective use of weapon by day and night. The course which will be achieved within the duration of 8 weeks has 105 soldiers drawn across the Division Area of Responsibility.
