Several events have begun as part of the 6 Division Nigerian Army’s celebration of the Nigerian Army Day (NADCEL) 2023. Beginning on June 30, 2023, at Port Harcourt Barracks in Rivers State, the activities started with the Friday Juma’at prayers. Brigades and troops from the 6 Division Area of Responsibility participated in a sizable number of the prayers. Attending the prayers with them were the Chairperson of NAOWA 6 Division Chapter, the General Officer Commanding, and other senior officers.

On Saturday, July 1, 2023, after the Juma’at prayers, a 10-kilometer Inter-Agency Route Match was held, according to Lieutenant Colonel Iweha Ikedichi, the acting deputy director of army public relations for the 6th division of the Nigerian Army. A representative from the Department of State Security, the Nigerian Navy, the Air Force, the Correctional Service, and the FRSC attended the ceremony.

Major General Jamal Abdussalam, the General Officer Commanding of the 6 Division Nigerian Army, thanked the competitors for their perseverance throughout the route competition. In addition to emphasizing that the event functioned as a deterrence to potential criminals, he underlined the event’s positive effects on one’s physical and mental health. It sent a message of strength and cohesion among the security authorities to see so many people walking together. All participants were exhorted by Major General Abdussalam to uphold a sense of brotherhood, maintain discipline, and show loyalty to the President and the constitution.

An Interdenominational Church Service was held on Sunday, July 2, 2023, after the successful Juma’at prayers and route match. The Federal Road Safety Corps, Nigerian Police, Nigerian Air Force, and other security services were represented at the service, along with the Nigerian Security and Civil Defense Corps. Also making a strong showing in their distinctive white dress was the Nigerian Army Officers Wives Association. The Commander of the 6 Division Garrison, Brigadier General Eddy Effiong, relayed the message of goodwill from Major General Taoreed Lagbaja, Chief of Army Staff.

On Monday, July 3, a public speech will be given at a certain secondary school, and on Tuesday, July 4, a free medical outreach will be held in the Tai Local Government Area Council. These events will round up the week’s events. The Nigerian Army Day Celebration’s grand finale is slated to take place in Ibadan on July 6, 2023.
