The Nigerian Air Force (NAF) fighter jets have carried out airstrikes that have resulted in the deaths of 24 ISWAP militants. According to information obtained by PRNigeria, the operation was conducted on Sunday at Tumbun Hamma, one of the Lake Chad training camps for the ISWAP that has been recognized as a location by the military.

According to a defence intelligence source who spoke with PRNigeria, the terrorists who were killed by the Air Force had been receiving training there for six (6) days, especially in the area of the use of weapons as well as creating improvised explosive devices, or (IEDs).

A Nigerian Air Force (NAF) aircraft engaged in a series of airstrikes against terrorist targets in the Tumbun Hamma near Lake Chad as part of Operation Hadin Kai (OPHK), according to information obtained by PRNigeria. These were a part of airstrikes carried out in retaliation by the Nigerian Army against terrorists who had attempted to attack a position in Mallam Fatori in recent days.

According to a military source, intelligence had shown that terrorists were entering Mallam Fatori via Tumbun Fulani and carrying four gun trucks, several backup weapons, and other technological equipment before the Air Force stroke their location.

“Therefore, an air interdiction mission is necessary to hinder and stop their operations. As a result, the attacks on the Tumbun Fulani resulted to the destruction of three of the gun trucks hidden behind trees, as well as the elimination of several terrorists who were scurrying toward six boats on the shores of Lake Chad, weakening their capacity to assault own forces, he told PRNigeria.

At the time of this report, attempts to contact the NAF Spokesman, Air Commodore Edward Gabkwet, or the Director of Defence Information, (DDI) Major General Jimmy Akpor, for comments had been fruitless.
