Edo Train Attack: Troops Rescue Train Kidnapped Victims in Edo State

Troops of 4 Brigade Nigerian Army in conjunction with Nigerian Airforce, Nigerian Police, Department of State Services, Civil Defense, Vigilante and local hunters rescue some of the victims who were kidnapped at a sub-station of Nigerian Railway Corporation (NRC) in Igueben, Edo State on 8 January 2023.

 

The gallant troops who trailed the kidnappers to Ugboha forest today 15 January 2023 had a contact with the bandits where they brought superior firepower to bear which led to the kidnappers bolting in disarray. A total of 12 victims were rescued during the operation which comprise; 8 females and 4 males. The traumatized victims were quickly moved to Nigerian Police Cottage Hospital Benin for proper medical management.

The Executive Governor of Edo State, Mr Godwin Obaseki who visited the victims appreciated the effort of the troops who participated in the rescue. He assured the citizens of the capacity of the Nigerian security agencies in protecting lives and properties. He gave a relief of Five Hundred Thousand Naira cash to each of the victims.

The Commander 4 Brigade Nigerian Army during the briefing enjoined all law-abiding citizens to continue to support the troops and other security agencies with credible and actionable information that will assist in the fight against the criminal elements.
