Following a failed effort to release their leaders from a detention facility in New Bussa, Niger State, scores of terrorists believed to be ISWAP militants met their demise at the hands of Nigerian military.
According to a defense intelligence source who spoke to PRNigeria , the military had been expecting the terrorists who were caught in a major ambush that had been set up for them.
“Even though the incident took place at night, the Nigerian Army troops had been expecting such risky actions and had been on high alert. They merely walked into our trap”. The source added .
Although at least seven terrorists’ dead bodies were counted this morning, the military were successful in apprehending one of their commanders who was in charge of the fighters .
He added that the achievement in destroying the terrorists was due to Nigerian Air Force aircraft being prompt in helping the ground forces from Wawa Military Cantonment in Borgu Local Government Area (LGA) of Niger State.
