In a momentous occasion at the Council Chambers of the Presidential Villa, Abuja, President Bola Tinubu officially decorated the newly-appointed Service Chiefs with their new ranks. The ceremony, which took place on Monday, marked a significant step in the continued efforts to strengthen Nigeria’s security and ensure peace and stability in the nation.

During the decoration, President Tinubu charged the newly-inaugurated Service Chiefs with the responsibility of maintaining teamwork in their efforts to safeguard the country. The President expressed his confidence in their capabilities and acknowledged the Senate’s prior confirmation of their appointments.

The four newly-inaugurated service chiefs are: General Christopher Musa as the Chief of Defence Staff (CDS), Lt-General Taoreed Lagbaja as the Chief of Army Staff (COAS), Air Marshal Hassan Abubakar as the Chief of Air Staff (CAS), and Vice Admiral Emmanuel Ogalla as the Chief of Naval Staff (CNS).

In his address, President Tinubu emphasized the importance of teamwork, which he attributed to the positive results achieved thus far in addressing the nation’s security challenges. He praised the Armed Forces for their dedication, commitment, and steadfastness in preserving peace and stability in the country.

The President assured the newly-appointed Service Chiefs of the government’s unwavering support in carrying out their responsibilities. He stressed the significance of virtues such as positive team thinking, unity, and selfless service to the nation, underscoring his optimism that Nigeria has a better future ahead despite current economic challenges.

President Tinubu called on all members of the Armed Forces to consider themselves as one single family, transcending their diversity and working together for the common goal of safeguarding the nation.

Furthermore, he urged everyone in government, including the service chiefs, to prioritize honest service to the nation and the welfare of its citizens. President Tinubu affirmed his commitment to serving the people, not ruling over them, and assured Nigerians that he is working tirelessly to address the economic challenges facing the nation.

General Musa, speaking on behalf of the Service Chiefs, expressed their unalloyed commitment to ensuring the security and defense of the nation in their respective positions. They pledged to dedicate themselves fully to the safety and well-being of Nigeria and its citizens.

The newly-appointed Service Chiefs acknowledged the confidence reposed in them and assured Mr. President of their unwavering loyalty to the government and the nation. They vowed to carry out their duties diligently and fulfill their responsibilities with utmost dedication and loyalty.

In conclusion, the event was graced by several dignitaries, including Vice President Kashim Shettima, Secretary to the Government of the Federation, Senator George Akume, Chief of Staff to the President, Femi Gbajabiamila, National Security Adviser, Malam Nuhu Ribabu, senior government officials, members of the immediate families of the Service Chiefs, and other heads of security and intelligence agencies in the country.
