Troops of 3 Division Nigerian Army had effectively countered an ambush set up by bandits in Mangu Local Government Area of Plateau state. The incident occurred on Wednesday, 12th July 2023, when the troops promptly responded to a distress call in the general area. Despite the bandits’ attempt to overpower them, the troops displayed great courage and successfully neutralized three of the criminals.
According to Brigadier General Onyema Nwachukwu, the Director of Army Public Relations, the troops’ efforts resulted in the recovery of significant items. These include three AK-47 rifles, 14 rounds of 7.62 mm Special ammunition, one motorcycle, and a Constabulary Police Identity card. The successful operation demonstrates the troops’ commitment to maintaining peace and security in the region.
Brigadier General Nwachukwu further stated that the pursuit of the bandits who managed to escape with gunshot wounds is currently underway. The Nigerian Army remains resolute in its mission to track down these criminals and bring them to justice.
The decisive action taken by the troops in clearing the ambush and neutralizing the bandits reflects the Nigerian Army’s dedication to protecting the lives and property of citizens.
