Ambassador Ummu Kalthum, the founder and head of the Kalthum Foundation for Peace, along with her management team, visited the Theatre Commander Joint Task Force (JTF) North East (NE) Operation HADIN KAI (OPHK), Major General Gold Chibuisi, at the Command Headquarters in Maimalari Military Cantonment, Maiduguri, on Monday, July 31, 2023.
During the visit, Ambassador Ummu Kalthum outlined the objectives of the Kalthum Foundation for Peace, which covers various important aspects such as women empowerment, religious tolerance, peace-building, remote medical assistance, resilience, sexual and gender-based violence, and conflict management. The foundation is committed to promoting peace and supporting initiatives that lead to stability and development in conflict-affected regions.
She emphasized that the purpose of their visit was to identify with the Theatre Commander and extend their congratulations on his appointment as the 13th Theatre Commander OPHK. Ambassador Ummu Kalthum expressed the foundation’s readiness to support and collaborate with the Theatre Command in its efforts to restore peace to the North East region.
In response, Major General Gold Chibuisi expressed his delight in receiving the team and commended them for their continuous support to OPHK, particularly in the non-kinetic aspects of operations. He acknowledged the significance of the foundation’s contributions in promoting peace and enhancing the well-being of communities affected by conflict. The Theatre Commander assured the Kalthum Foundation for Peace of the Theatre’s unwavering commitment to sustaining the existing partnership and working together for the greater good of the region.
The interactive session during the visit provided an opportunity for fruitful discussions on strategies to address the challenges faced by communities in the North East and ways to foster lasting peace and security. As a gesture of appreciation, the visitors signed the Theatre Command’s Visitors’ book and presented souvenirs to commemorate the occasion.
