Kano State Police Arrest Additional 57 Suspects for Criminal Trespass, Mischief, Shop-Breaking, and Theft

Kano State, Nigeria – The Kano State Police Command has announced the arrest of an additional 57 suspects involved in various criminal activities, including criminal trespass, mischief, shop-breaking, and theft. This development follows the earlier arrest and charging of 49 suspects in connection with similar offenses. The Commissioner of Police, CP Mohammed Usaini Gumel, has emphasized the need for increased vigilance and called on parents and community leaders to discourage such criminal behavior among their wards and youths.

SP Abdullahi Kiyawa, the Police PRO Kano Police Command said, the Kano State Police Command initiated round-the-clock visibility patrols after receiving reports that some individuals were taking advantage of the demolition of illegal buildings/structures by the Kano State government to loot people’s properties. In response to these reports, law enforcement agencies intensified their efforts to protect lives and properties in the state.

With the latest arrests, a total of 106 suspects have been apprehended and charged before Magistrate Court 35 Normans Land Kano. The confiscated exhibits will be presented as evidence in the ongoing legal proceedings. The victims of these crimes are encouraged to come forward and provide their testimony at the State Criminal Investigation Department (SCID) in Bompai, Kano State Police Command. The Commissioner of Police expressed his gratitude to those who provided valuable information that led to the successful arrests and the recovery of looted properties. He reiterated that maintaining law and order is a collective responsibility and called on parents and community leaders to play their part in discouraging their wards and youths from engaging in criminal activities. Anyone caught in the act will face the full force of the law.
