Lieutenant to Captain Practical Promotion Examination 2023: TRADOC NA Visits GOC, Holds Dinner Night

As part of the activities to climax the Lieutenant to Captain Practical Promotion Examination (LCPPE) 2023, Training and Doctrine Command Nigerian Army (TRADOC NA) held a dinner night on Friday 20 January, 2023 to commemorate the successful conduct of the examination.

The colourful event witnessed the presence of some senior retired military officers among whom shared their wealth of experience to encourage the young officers. The likes of Air Commodore FB Ikpe (rtd) and Captain (NN) MC Osai (rtd) took stage to advise the young officers by urging them to be focus and lay a better foundation for a successful career. The retired senior officers emphasised dedication and determination as key building a formidable foundation for a successful career while advising the Lieutenant to Captain Practical Promotion Examination participants.

Air Commodore Ikpe (rtd) said the call to service is not a sprint but a marathon and the results will differentiate men from boys. In addition, He advised the Lieutenant to Captain Practical Promotion Examination participants that failing does not mean giving up but rather should rejuvenate their efforts to achieving better results in future. He added that the female officers should compete with their male counterparts without any intimidation. He listed that in achieving success the following nuggets should be adhere to; Build yourself up in your chosen career, cut an niche for yourself,, read widely, keep yourself open to learning and never be blank while interacting. Also, Captain (NN) MC Osai (Rtd) pointed out that the dinner should be a source of encouragement for the young officers and also an avenue to put in their best and be loyal to the service.

In his remarks, the Special Guest of Honour, Air Vice Marshal T Dick-Irunaebere (Rtd) advised the Lieutenant to Captain Practical Promotion Examination on the need for early preparation, perseverance and loyalty to the system. “Even though examination is meant to test knowledge and understanding, the candidates should brace up to the current and future challenges, he added. He commended the Directing staff/members of the panel for a job well done without compromising the sanctity and integrity of the examination processes.

The dinner night was in honour of the Directing Staff/members of Examination panel and the candidates to winds off the tress of the two week long activities. In attendance were senior retired military officers, Heads/Representatives of security agencies, Principal Staff Officers (PSOs) from TRADOC NA and Army Headquarters Observers, PSOs and Commanders of sub formations and units in 6 Div NA.
Highlights of the event were presentation of souvenirs, dance group performance and group photographs. The event was hitch free.

Earlier in the day the Commander (TRADOC NA) Maj Gen Stevenson Olabanji paid a courtesy call to the General Officer Commanding (GOC) 6 Division NA, Maj Gen OO Oluyede. The Commander thanked the GOC for providing enabling environment for the successful conduct of the Examination 2023.

While commending the GOC for the leadership skills and value addition as portrayed in his command, Gen Olabanji said the perspective of the NA is fast changing and everyone must contribute his/her quota to the betterment of the Army. In the same vein, he emphasized on the need for all Commanders to prioritize the implementation of NA Doctrine which is part of the mission of the COAS, Lt Gen Farouk Yahaya.

In his response, the GOC 6 DIV NA, described the Commander TRADOC NA as a professional mentor and an accomplished season infantry General, whom you always have something to learn from his exemplary leadership. General Oluyede equally thanked the COAS, Lt Gen Farouk Yahaya for giving the Division the opportunity to host the practical promotion examination 2023, which was successfully hosted and conducted.

Similarly, the results of the Lieutenant to Captain Practical Promotion Examination (LCPPE) 2023 was announced by the Examination President, Maj Gen SO Olabanji in Port Harcourt on 22 January 2023. A total of 217 candidates sat for the Examination.
