Ndjemena, Chad – Major General Ibrahim Sallau Ali has officially assumed command as the new Force Commander Multinational Joint Task Force (MNJTF) following the recent redeployment of senior Nigerian Army officers by the Chief of Army Staff. The handover ceremony took place at Camp Farcha in Ndjemena on Friday, July 14, 2023.

In a statement issued by Lieutenant Colonel Abubakar Abdullahi, the Military Public Information Officer, it was revealed that Major General Ali expressed his commitment to inclusive leadership, ensuring that all members of the MNJTF are carried along. He called for the cooperation of everyone involved in the task force to achieve its mandate.

During his valedictory address, Major General Gold Chubuisi, the former Force Commander, highlighted the significant achievements accomplished during his three-month tenure, both in kinetic and non-kinetic operations. He emphasized successful clearance operations targeting terrorist hideouts, the neutralization of key terrorist leaders, and the successful rescue of 56 hostages during Operation HARBIN ZUMA. Additionally, he mentioned the implementation of various quick impact projects in Chad and Niger Republics, benefiting local communities.

Major General Chubuisi urged the incoming Force Commander, Major General Ibrahim Ali, to sustain the momentum and continue the offensive against adversaries, building upon the successes achieved.

Major General Ibrahim Ali, who previously served as the Theatre Commander of Operation HADIN KAI in North East Nigeria, demonstrated commendable performance in incapacitating Boko Haram terrorists. He becomes the tenth Force Commander since the reorganization of the MNJTF in 2015.

With Major General Ali at the helm of the Multinational Joint Task Force, the collective efforts of the participating nations will continue to be harnessed, ensuring the effective and efficient execution of the task force’s mandate in addressing security challenges in the region.
