The Theatre of Operation HADIN KAI (OPHK) has recently witnessed yet another Change of Command between Major General Christopher Musa and Major General Ibrahim Ali in a grand manner at the Headquarters of the Joint Task Force North East OPHK. This follows the recent redeployment of senior officers and officers across various Theatres of Operations, Formations, and Units across the country.
Major General Christopher Musa, who is on his way to Headquarters Infantry Corp Center to assume the position of Commander Infantry Corp, has stepped down as the 12th Theatre Commander of OPHK as of today, January 28, 2023, Major General Ibrahim Ali has assumed command.
Major General CG Musa thanks the Chief of Army Staff (COAS), Lieutenant General F Yahaya, during the Handing and Taking ceremony at the Headquarters OPHK, in Maimalari Cantonment, the outgoing TC, for the opportunity to serve as the Theatre Commander of OPHK and for his redeployment to lead the Infantry Corps.
General Musa expressed his gratitude to all of the commanders, officers, and members of the OPHK for their unwavering loyalty and dedication in carrying out their primary duties and continuing the onslaught against the terrorists, which led to the unprecedented and unparalleled successes seen in recent memory, while also emphasizing that the victory belongs to everyone and not just him.
The country is counting on us to conclude the battle against insurgency, he said, therefore he urged all officers and troops to preserve the faith and fight fiercely to ensure that all surviving roaming elements of the terrorists are totally annihilated in order that complete peace and serenity would be restored. He used the platform to urge the troops to give Major General IS Ali the same collaboration, support, and tenacity demonstrated to him while in the Theatre.
In his remarks, Theatre Commander OPHK Major General IS Ali expressed gratitude to the departing TC for the legacy he is leaving behind and pledged to build on these legacies in order to put an end to the conflict with the insurgents. To put an end to terrorism in the NE, he continued, “all hands must be on deck.”
The event’s highlight comes when LCpl Timothy Yakubu receives a letter of commendation for his bravery during a recent assault against terrorists, which resulted in the recovery of weapons and an MRAP as well as the saving of other coworkers’ lives. The Handing and Taking over notes had to be signed, the incoming TC had to be decorated with the OPHK insignia, the Command Flag had to be presented, the quarter guards had to be inspected, the goodbye address to the troops had to be given, and there was also a brief press interview.
The Deputy TC, Major General KA Isoni, GOC 7 Division and Commander Sector 1 OPHK, Major General W Shaibu, Sectors and Component Commanders, Principal Staff Officers of HQ TC and 7 Division Nigerian Army, and other participants attended the occasion.
