Maiduguri, Nigeria – The 13th General Officer Commanding (GOC) 7 Division and Commander Sector 1 of Operation Hadin Kai has formally assumed command. He is Major General Peter Malla. The handover ceremony took conducted between Major General PP Malla and Major General Abdulsalam Abubakar at the division’s headquarters, Maimalari Military Cantonment. Abubakar will now serve as the commander of Operation SAFE HAVEN and the GOC of 3 Division, Nigerian Army.
The departing GOC expressed his sincere gratitude for their efforts and dedication during his term in his farewell speech to the Division’s soldiers. He stressed how crucial it is to support the incoming GOC’s leadership and vision. As the GOC of the 7 Division, Major General Abubakar also expressed his gratitude to Major General TA Lagbaja, Chief of Army Staff, for giving him the chance to do so. In addition, he acknowledged Major General IS Ali, the former Theater Commander, for his ongoing strategic direction.
As the 7 Division’s new commander, Major General PP Malla is tasked with directing the Division’s operations to fight the insurgency and uphold regional security, as well as Sector 1 Operation HADIN KAI. To ensure the success of ongoing operations and support regional security and peace, the GOC will collaborate closely with his soldiers and other stakeholders.
The Nigerian Army is unwavering in its will to confront regional security issues and defend the lives and property of Nigerian citizens. Achieving these goals will depend heavily on the leadership of Major General Malla and the commitment of the troops under his command. The handover ceremony denotes an orderly transition and a renewed emphasis on the current mission.
