Army Headquarters, Nigeria – Major General Nosakhare Ugbo has officially assumed command as the 16th Chief of Civil-Military Affairs (CCMA) at the Army Headquarters Department of Civil-Military Affairs. The handover ceremony between Major General Ugbo and his predecessor, Major General Markus Kangye, took place at the Department’s Auditorium on July 13, 2023.
In his farewell remarks, Major General Markus Kangye, who now assumes the role of Commander Corps of Artillery, expressed gratitude to the Almighty God for a successful tour of duty. He thanked all personnel of the Department for their unwavering cooperation, acknowledging that his achievements were the result of collective efforts and the support of the media. Major General Kangye urged them to extend the same level of cooperation to the incoming CCMA.
Furthermore, Major General Kangye appreciated the Chief of Army Staff (COAS) for his support, guidance, and direction, which were instrumental to his success in the position.
In his maiden remarks, Major General Nosakhare Ugbo expressed his deep gratitude to the Almighty God for granting him the opportunity to assume the role of CCMA. He also expressed his appreciation to the COAS for finding him deserving of the appointment, emphasizing his commitment to justifying the trust placed in him.
Major General Ugbo promised to build upon the successes achieved by his predecessor and work diligently towards achieving even greater heights. He called upon the personnel to maintain discipline and dedication to their duties, highlighting the importance of their role in civil-military relations.
The ceremony’s highlights included the planting of trees, the signing of handing and taking over notes, and a group photograph to commemorate the occasion.
