Israel Emmanuel, a young teenager, has been jailed by the Adamawa State Police Command for plotting his own kidnapping and convincing his father to pay a N1 million ransom. According to reports, Israel ran into trouble after telling the police that his accomplices had received N1 million from his father while telling him they had only been given N500,000.
Israel admitted to the self-kidnapping, but according to him, he just want to persuade his father to pay up cash for him and his accomplices. The State Police Command acknowledged that he had been apprehended.
The other two conspirators, Fartaci Kucol and Zakka Nuh, both from the northern Adamawa LGA of Mubi North, who were also apprehended, have similarly admitted to the crime.
They said that Israel was held captive for six days in the remote village of Muvur in the Mubi North LGA, and then for two more days in the Mubi city before being freed after paying a ransom. But the third accomplice, Abdullhamid Mohammed, is still on the run.
According to the facts in the report, after collecting N1 million in ransom, Zakka and Fartaci claimed that Israel’s father had only paid N500,000 in ransom.
Israel was released uninjured and returned home after receiving his portion of the declared N500,00.
However, when he learned that N1 million had been spent to buy his “independence,” he was unable to control his accomplices’ “betrayal.”
