Major General Ibrahim Sallau Ali, the Force Commander of the Multinational Joint Task Force (MNJTF), embarked on a momentous operational visit to Headquarters Sector 1 in Mora, Far North Region of Cameroon. The visit, held on July 31, 2023, aimed at strengthening ties with local communities and furthering civil-military cooperation (CIMIC) efforts within the MNJTF’s area of operation.

During the visit, Major General Ali inaugurated several completed Quick Impact Projects in Amtchiale, Kagalerie, and Tousky areas of Mora Municipality, Mayo Sava. These projects, undertaken in collaboration with COGINTA Non-Governmental Organization, showcased the MNJTF’s unwavering commitment to enhancing education and water supply in the region.

In Amtchiale, the MNJTF, in partnership with COGINTA, constructed a block of four classrooms, an administrative block, and a toilet facility. These facilities stand as symbols of hope and development, promising a brighter future for the local communities by fostering better educational opportunities and amenities.

Additionally, the MNJTF drilled two boreholes each in Kagalerie and Tousky, addressing the critical need for improved water supply in these areas. These efforts not only demonstrate the MNJTF’s dedication to counterterrorism but also its commitment to elevating the living standards of the local populace.

Major General Ali highlighted that the construction of a new laboratory block and a consulting room in Bonderi is currently underway. These initiatives will significantly transform the community and elevate the quality of life for the residents.

The Force Commander vehemently condemned the actions of Boko Haram, characterizing their acts of terrorism as a grave affront to humanity and progress. He called upon the local communities to join forces with national and multinational troops to effectively contain the remnants of Boko Haram and maintain peace in the region.

In a welcoming address, the Mayor of Mora Municipality, Chetima Hamidou, expressed heartfelt appreciation to the MNJTF, COGINTA, and the European Union for their support in stabilizing his municipality, which has been significantly affected by insurgent attacks. The Mayor pledged to collaborate closely with both national and multinational troops to combat the threat posed by the remnants of terrorists. He appealed for further support to aid the citizens of his area in their recovery from the devastating impacts of Boko Haram attacks.

Prior to the project handover, Major General Ali engaged with the officers of Sector 1, seeking their continued cooperation in the fight against insurgency within the sector. He commended the troops for their tireless efforts and acknowledged their successes in fulfilling the MNJTF’s mandate. The Force Commander emphasized the critical importance of unity of purpose and ongoing collaboration among multinational forces to achieve lasting peace and security in the region.

The visit of Major General Ibrahim Sallau Ali to Sector 1 not only reaffirmed the MNJTF’s commitment to community development but also underscored its determination to eradicate the menace of terrorism from the region. With strengthened partnerships and dedicated efforts, the MNJTF aims to secure lasting peace and prosperity for the people of the Far North Region.
