The Regional Intelligence Fusion Unit (RIFU) and the Multinational Joint Task Force (MNJTF) have declared a reinforced partnership to eradicate terrorist remnants in the Lake Chad Basin. This teamwork was underlined on Monday, June 12, 2023, when RIFU Coordinator Abu Hadiza Zanguina Karimbinta paid a working visit to the MNJTF headquarters in Ndjemena, Chad.

Madam Zanguina reaffirmed RIFU’s commitment to supporting the MNJTF with useful intelligence during the visit. She commended the force for its commitment to reducing terrorism in the Lake Chad basin and expressed confidence in the combined efforts to address the security issues in the area.

As a result, Major General Gold Chibuisi, the Force Commander of the MNJTF, stressed the value of the visit in identifying areas where intelligence support may be maximized for the operation. He repeated his resolve to go out of the Lake Chad basin a better and more secure man.

Since its establishment in 2014, RIFU has been instrumental in coordinating information sharing and collection among the five Lake Chad states. In order to support MNJTF’s efforts in battling terrorism in the area, the unit has been crucial in supplying crucial intelligence. The success of counterterrorism initiatives in the Lake Chad basin will ultimately be influenced by this relationship between MNJTF and RIFU, which will further improve the efficacy of intelligence gathering and sharing.

It is anticipated that the improved collaboration between MNJTF and RIFU will close any current intelligence gaps in the area. Together, these groups seek to advance peace, stability, and security in the Lake Chad basin while also protecting the security and wellbeing of the impacted inhabitants.

The dedication of the MNJTF and the RIFU to joint intelligence operations reveals their shared resolve to defeat terrorism and provide a more secure environment in the Lake Chad Basin. By working together, they will continue to make considerable progress against terrorist organization remnants and toward a long-lasting peace in the area.
