Students of the Senior Leadership and Staff Officers Course (SLSOC) 1/23 and Logistics Staff Officers Course 20/23 were inaugurated earlier on Friday, January 27, 2023, by Major General Obinna Ajunwa, the General Officer Commanding, 81 Division, Nigerian Army, who was the Special Guest of Honor (SGOH). The event was held at Ojo, Lagos, at the permanent location of the Nigerian Army College of Logistics and Management (NACOLM).

Major General Adekunle Adeyinka, the Commandant NACOLM, stated during his welcome speech that the College has been a center of excellence for personnel development in general and logistics training since its founding, not just for the NA but also for subscribing Services and agencies. He continued by saying that the College recently accepted the extra duty to offer staff and leadership courses to junior and senior students. He also emphasized that in December 2022, the Junior Leadership and Staff Officers Course’s inaugural class was triumphantly graduated by the College.

Additionally, the Commandant emphasized the need for resource management. He continued by advising students to always remember to use the time, space, money, and materials and equipment they have to their advantage wisely. He urged them not to put off finishing their homework or group projects.

The new College name and logo, which are displayed at the entrance to the Headquarters NACOLM Complex, were previously unveiled by the SGOH during the joint event. The Nigerian Army College of Logistics (NACOL) will now be known as NACOLM, according to the Commandant NACOLM, who spoke at the ceremony. This is due to the College’s expanded mission, which received approval from Army Headquarters. Additionally, the mission, learning objectives, organizational structure, and curricula that were examined and approved for NACOLM. In order to match the College with the changing requirements of the Nigerian Army and global best practices, he continued, the development had become essential.

The first lecture by the SGOH on “Mentorship as a Tool for Effective Leadership Training: The NA in Perspective,” the gift-giving ceremony, and the refreshments and toasts to newly posted NACOLM staff officers and students were among the event’s highlights.

The event went off without a hitch, with participation from the Deputy Commandant and Director of Studies NACOLM, Major General MW Abubakar, who gave the vote of thanks, as well as representatives of the Corps Commanders/Commandants of NA schools within the 81 Division Area of Responsibility, staff officers of NACOLM, and the College partners/collaborators, among other invited guests.
