The executive president of the Nigerian Army Wives Association (NAOWA), Mrs. Salamatu F. Yahaya, on Wednesday, October 12, 2022, commissioned a block of classrooms, an ICT Center, and a 500-seater Multipurpose Hall at the NAOWA Model Nursery and Primary School, Ojo, Lagos state.
Mrs. Yahaya announces the commissioning of additional classrooms and other projects during a courtesy visit to the Nigerian army’s General Officer Commanding (GOC) 81 Division, Major General OC Ajunwa, at the Headquarters 81 Division in Lagos, southwestern Nigeria.
However, she applauded the GOC and the entire officers and men of 81 Division for the warm reception and audience accorded her and members of her entourage at the division headquarters.
While she urged officers of the 81st Division to support their spouses and encourage them to participate in NAOWA activities, she also stated that the Association’s constant leadership training has resulted in it becoming a leadership hub.
In describing her initiatives, Mrs. Salamatu F. Yahaya noted that NAOWA is currently working in collaboration with a number of states and non-state actors, which has expanded the scope of the organization’s humanitarian efforts and increased support through access to government grants and interventions for the benefit of women and young people living in the barracks community. She also reaffirmed her intention to start further initiatives in Lagos State’s garrison communities.
In his response, the GOC praised President NAOWA for her enormous successes in structural developments and other programs that have benefited barracks communities across the country. He also praised the NAOWA President’s zeal in preserving and improving the legacies left by previous NAOWA Presidents.
The exchange of plaques, the endorsement of the visitor’s book, and group photographs were among the highlights of the visit.
