In the Opuje Forest in Edo State, the National Drug Law Enforcement Agency destroyed cannabis storage facilities.

This was disclosed on Saturday in a statement posted on the National Drug Law Enforcement Agency’s Twitter account by Femi Babafemi, the agency’s director of media and advocacy.

According to the National Drug Law Enforcement Agency’s statement, approximately 317,417 kilograms (317.4 metric tons) of the psychoactive material were stored in enormous warehouses and tents that were demolished and set on fire during the course of a two-day operation.

At least four people were detained in connection with the narcotics: Omoruan Theophilus, a police impostor, 37, who poses as a Police Inspector to transport drugs from the forests to the metropolis; Aigberuan Jacob, 42; Ekeinde Anthony Zaza, 53; and Naomi Patience Ohiewere, 42, National Drug Law Enforcement Agency said.

According to the National Drug Law Enforcement Agency, the Opuje community in Edo State’s Owan West Local Government Area is well known for its cannabis farming. According to the CIA, the cartel constructs warehouses inside of the forest reserves after harvest and hires armed youngsters to guard the facilities around-the-clock.
