The family of the late Oba Yusuf Omokanye Oyekanmi, the Elemona of Ilemona in Kwara State, was visited by National Security Advisor Nuhu Ribadu and Brigadier General OD Williams, Commander of the 22 Armoured Brigade Nigerian Army. On May 19, 2024, the monarch who was the father of Lieutenant Colonel Nurudeen Yusuf, President Bola Ahmed Tinubu’s Aid De Camp, departed from this life.
Lieutenant Stephen Nwanko, the 22 Armoured Brigade’s Acting Assistant Director of Army Public Relations, released a statement in which the National Security Adviser offered the dead family the President’s deepest regrets and condolences. “On behalf of the President, I’m here to offer the family of Oba Yusuf Omokanye Oyekanmi our sincere condolences and sorrow. Not just for his immediate family but for all of us, his passing will always be a great loss, Ribadu said.
He went on, lauding the late Oba’s devotion to his community and his leadership abilities. “More than just a leader, the late Oba of Ilemona treated us all as sons. “His guidance, wisdom, and unwavering dedication to his community have left an enduring impression,” said Ribadu.
It’s critical to provide Lieutenant Colonel Yusuf and his family with urgent support and solidarity during this trying time, stressed Ribadu. He highlighted the significant influence of the late monarch’s legacy while applauding the late monarch’s contributions to Oyun LGA’s cultural heritage, progress, and peace.
