On Tuesday, February 7, 2023, Major-General Ibrahim Sallau Ali, the recently appointed Theatre Commander Commander OPHK of Joint Task Force North East (NE), conducted a familiarization and operational visit to MNJTF Headquarters in N’Djamena, Chad. Major General Abdul Khalifah Ibrahim, Force Commander (FC) MNJTF, welcomed the TC.
On February 7, 2023, Lieutenant Colonel Kamarudeen Adegoke, the Chief Military Public Information Officer in N’Djamena, Chad, issued a statement to the media un behalf of the Commander OPHK.
In his remarks, the TC praised the FC for the cordial welcome and complimented him for leading the MNJTF to greater heights via operation and for the numerous victories the Force had achieved in battling the threat of terrorism and insurgency in the Lake Chad Region. He added that JTF (NE) OPHK will strengthen the existing cooperation and synergy between the two operations while he is in charge. In his statements of welcome, the FC praised the TC as a distinguished senior officer whose operational expertise will strengthen the region’s continuous struggle against terrorism and insurgency.
The TC had previously paid a visit to Ambassador Mamman Nuhu, Head of Mission (HoM) MNJTF and Executive Secretary of the Lake Chad Basin Commission. He explained to the HoM why he was there and felt it was important to honor him. He thanked the HoM for giving the MNJTF strategic advice and asked for assistance for OPHK because the two operations share operational zones.
The TC also paid General Abakar Abdelkarim Daoud, Chief of Defence Staff (CDS) of the Chadian Armed Forces, a courtesy call at the Chadian Defense Headquarters. He expressed his congratulations to the CDS on his recent elevation to the level of a five star general, noting that it was the result of his long hours of labor and committed service. He praised the Chadian Armed Forces for stabilizing the region while pointing out that OPHK would continue to work with MNJTF and other national operations to coordinate efforts to eradicate the insurgency’s scourge in the Lake Chad Basin Region and elsewhere.
In his reaction, the CDS said that the Chadian Armed Forces would continue to cooperate with Nigeria and other Sub-regional nations until the insurgency’s plague was eradicated. He stated that if and when the need arose, his doors were always open for discussions.
