In a proactive move to elevate professionalism and enrich the capacity of its personnel, the Nigeria Police Force has inducted 31 Police Public Relations Officers and Public Relations experts from the Force Public Relations Department at the Force Headquarters Abuja into the esteemed National Institute of Public Relations (NIPR). The induction ceremony took place on Thursday, 14th December 2023, and was conducted by Dr Ike Neliaku, President and Chairman of the Council of NIPR, represented by Professor Emmanuel Dandaura, the Vice President of the institute.
According to ACP Olumuyiwa Adejobi, the Force Public Relations Officer, this initiative underscores the Force’s unwavering commitment to providing continuous training and development opportunities for its personnel. The decision to induct these public relations professionals into the NIPR aligns with the standards outlined in the NIPR Act of 2004, the law governing professional practice in Public Relations within Nigeria.
During the induction ceremony, the Inspector-General of Police (IGP), Kayode Adeolu Egbetokun, Ph.D., NPM, represented by CP Olatoye Durosinmi, the Akwa Ibom State Commissioner of Police, urged the newly inducted officers to effectively apply the knowledge acquired in their official capacities as spokespersons. The IGP emphasized the pivotal role these officers play in enhancing communication and fostering positive relations between the Police and the general public.
ACP Olumuyiwa Adejobi expressed deep appreciation to the Inspector-General of Police for his unprecedented support towards the advancement of the Public Relations Department. The Force reiterates its commitment to upholding professionalism, continuous learning, and the strict observance of ethical standards across all operational spheres.
