The appointment and redeployment of new Branch Chiefs, Air Officers Commanding (AOCs), Commandants of Tri-Service and Nigerian Air Force (NAF) Institutions, including a new Spokesperson and other senior officers, have been approved by the Chief of the Air Staff (CAS), Air Marshal Oladayo Amao, as part of a routine exercise meant to ensure operational efficiency and effective service delivery.
According to a press release from Group Captain Joel Abioye, Director of Public Relations and Information, the newly appointed Branch Chiefs are Air Vice Marshal (AVM) Jackson Yusuf, formerly the Chief of Policy and Plans (COPP), Headquarters Nigerian Air Fofrce (HQ NAF), who is now the Chief of Defence Policy and Plans (CDPP), Defence Headquarters (DHQ), Abuja, and AVM. Idi Lubo, formerly the Commandant of the Armed Forces Resettlement Center, is now the Chief of Policy and Plans (COPP) at HQ NAF, AVM. Mohammed Yakubu has been named Chief of Aircraft Engineering at HQ NAF. He formerly served as the Air Force Institute of Technology’s (AFIT) Vice Commandant.
Others include Jaji, the former Commandant of the Armed Forces Command and Staff College, and AVM Ayoola Jolasinmi, a former CDPP of DHQ who is now in charge of the Defense Space Administration. DHQ’s Chief of Defence Transformation and Innovation (CDTI), Anthony Tuwase, is now in charge. AVM Ibikunle Daramola, the former Air Officer Commanding (AOC), Ground Training Command (GTC), has been appointed the Chief of Communications Information Systems (CCIS), HQ NAF. In a similar vein, AVM Paul Masiyer is now the Chief of Logistics, HQ Nigerian Air Force, and AVM Paul Masiyer is now the Chief of Logistics, HQ NAF. While AVM Anthony Ndace is now the Air Secretary, HQ NAF, Samuel Chinda will now serve as Chief of Air Intelligence.
AVM Emmanuel Wonah, the former Chief of Aircraft Engineering, is now the Commandant of the Armed Forces Command and Staff College in Jaji. AVM Charles Ohwo, the former CDTI, is now the Commandant of the Armed Forces Resettlement Center in Lagos. AVM Paul Jemitola, the previous Air Secretary, is now the Commandant of the Air Force Institute of Technology in Kaduna. AVM Abraham Adole is the Commandant of the Air Force War College in
The newly appointed AOCs are AVM Sayo Olatunde, the former Commandant of the Air Force War College, who is now the AOC of the Ground Training Command in Enugu, and AVM Ebimobo Ebiowe, who is now the AOC of the Mobility Command in Yenagoa. Additionally, former Director of Public Relations and Information (DOPRI), Air Commodore (Air Cdre) Edward Gabkwet, has been named Commander of 551 NAF Station, Jos, and Air Cdre Wapkerem Maigida has been named the new Nigerian Air Force Spokesperson. Operation Hadin Kai’s Air Component Commander, Air Cdre Olayinka Oyesola, assumes command of Joint Task Force North East.
As he congratulated the new hires, Air Marshal Amao gave them a challenge: they must use their professional backgrounds to their advantage and constantly look for innovative ways to come up with fresh approaches and practical answers to the nation’s security issues. Senior officials who have been promoted and freshly appointed are anticipated to start working in their new positions by no later than Friday, January 6, 2023.
