The Army Council approved the promotion of senior commanders to the levels of Major General and Brigadier General on Thursday, December 15, 2022, in appreciation of their distinguished service to the country.
A total of 122 senior officers in the levels of Brigadier General and Colonel were promoted to the next higher rank, according to the promotion, which was signed and released by the Military Secretary (Army), according to Brigadier General Onyema Nwachukwu, Director Army Public Relations.

Seventy colonels were also promoted to the rank of Brigadier General, while a total of 52 Brigadier Generals were meritoriously raised to the position of Major General.
Brigadier Generals AA Ayanuga from the Department of Army Transformation and Innovation, EH Akpan from Theatre Command Operation HADIN KAI, NM Jega from the Defense Headquarters, JO Ugwuoke from the Department of Army Logistics, PAO Okoye from the Department of Army Operations, EF Oyinlola from the Department of Special Services and Programs, AA Adekeye from the 21 Special Armoured Brigade, and AE Edet from
Brigadier Generals IM Abdullahi of Headquarters 35 Brigade, AO Agboola of the Department of Army Training, EE Emekah of the Nigerian Defense Academy, HE Nzan of the Department of Army Standards and Evaluation, LA Lebo of the Department of Army Training, UT Otaru of the Nigerian Army School of Supply and Transport, and AU Obiwulu of 1 Base Workshop are a few other beneficiaries.
Colonels AO Ajagbe, JO Ogbobe, MG Hammawa, SS Bello, SOG Aremu, NG Mohammed, OI Odigie, CA Osuagwu, MO Eteng, and ED Idima are a few of the colonels promoted to the rank of brigadier general.
All of the promoted Army officers and their families are congratulated by Lieutenant General Faruk Yahaya, Chief of Army Staff. In order to maintain the confidence and trust placed in them by President Muhammadu Buhari, the Commander in Chief of the Armed Forces of the Federal Republic of Nigeria, the Nigerian Army, and really all Nigerians, he has also charged them to remain focused, selfless, and loyal in their service to the country.
