The Commandant Nigerian Army School of Public Relations and Information (NASPRI), Brig Gen Omale Abraham Ochagwuba has inaugurated the fourth quarter 2022 courses at the NASPRI auditorium in Bonny Cantonment, Victoria Island, Lagos.

During the ceremony, the Commandant iterated that the courses are meant to enhance the knowledge the students acquired in the field of Public Relations and Information management during their previous courses.

Brigadier General Ochagwuba revealed that the daunting challenges the Nigerian Armed Forces is facing today, requires public support and understanding which can only be achieved if Public Relations and Information managers who interface with the civil populace are adequately upskilled.

The Commandant further highlighted some of the intervention programmes of the Chief of Army Staff which include the remodeling of the student’s hostel, ICT building and allocation of 100KV Generating set to the school.

Additionally, the National Information Technology Development Agency (NITDA) has provided the school with full capacity ICT equipments. He therefore urged the students to make judicious use of these facilities to enhance their knowledge of editing and ICT in general.

He promised to do his best within the resources available to further make NASPRI conducive enough for teaching and learning. Brigadier Gen Ochagwuba concluded by expressing his sincere gratitude to the Chief of Army Staff, Lt Gen Faruk Yahaya for his interest and commitment to the Directorate of Army Public Relations and NASPRI in particular since he assumed command.

He also thanked the Chief of Naval Staff , Vice Admiral AZ Gambo  for believing in the capacity of NASPRI and nominating personnel of the Nigerian Navy to run NASPRI courses.

The Commander TRADOC Maj Gen SO Olabanji and the Chief of Training (Army) at the Department of Army Training  were not left out of the Commandant’s appreciation.

The Acting Chief Instructor of the school, Maj Ikechukwu Stephen Eze charged them to actively participate in all class discussions and activities as their courses are unique and would expose them to theoretical and practical aspects that will task their experience academically and in the field thereafter. Maj Eze reminded the student Officers that their roles as Public Relations Officers (PROs) in warfare cannot be overemphasized and as such, underscores the importance of their training.
