Nigerian Army Sets to Conduct Practical Promotion Examination for it’s Officers

The Training and Doctrine Command Nigerian Army (TRADOC NA) has commenced preparation as part of its routine duties to conduct Lieutenant to Captain Practical Promotion Examination 2023. The examination is scheduled to hold in 6 Division Area of Responsibility. While addressing the Directing Staff (DS) and members of Examination panel on Sunday 08 January, 2023 at the Python Officers’ Mess in Port Harcourt, the Commander TRADOC NA Major General Stevenson Olabanji who was represented by the Examination Coordinator (1) Major General JAL Jimoh reaffirmed that the NA will continue to ensure that its officers are periodically assessed and trained professionally to meet up with the contemporary challenges in the country. He added that the Introduction of Physical Training as a subject is necessary due to the importance the NA places on the physical and mental fitness of its personnel.

 

Maj Gen Jimoh said the promotion examination is aimed at assessing the candidates practically on different areas such as skills at arms, driving and maintenance, Administration in the field, Map reading, Tactics, French Language among others.

He said “you are all expected to apply your wealth of experience to ensure the successful conduct of the examination. He further added that ” You are reminded that your selection by Army Headquarters for the preparation and conduct of examination is based on merit and personal recognition”. Stressing that the conduct and success of the examination is based on their commitment, integrity and confidence the NA has entrusted in them. Therefore, he urged them to brace up to the task and justify the confidence entrusted in them.

Earlier, the General Officer Commanding 6 Division NA/Chief Host, Maj Gen OO Oluyede has assured that adequate logistics and administrative arrangements have been made and security has been beefed up to ensure that the examination is hitch free. The address was attended by representatives from Army Headquarters as Observers, Members of Examination Panel, Directing Staff, Principal Staff Officers from TRADOC NA and HQ 6 Divison NA
